Why Pokemon: The First Movie Sucks

When I think about Pokemon: The First Movie, I wonder how much life I would’ve saved by not watching it as a child.

The plot is about a mysterious Pokemon called Mew that scientists gain DNA from. From this DNA, they make a clone named Mewtwo, an extraterrestrial-like Pokemon that cannot smile. It looks so angry that it looks like it wished it was never created.

Nevertheless, it wants to steal Pokemon, make clones and dominate the world. That’s right.

We forgot that this movie was supposed to be for kids, but Mewtwo plans to conquer humanity. He blows many things up in the film too (like Team Rocket’s laboratory) and there are some deleted scenes in this movie too. Without a doubt, this Pokemon is certainly not like the rest and we can see why no one would want to catch this horrid Pokemon in the first place!

“Pokemon! Gotta catch’em all!... Wait, we’ll leave Mewtwo alone.”

Mew, the playful Pokemon, is just a troll. It only appears in the film when the fighting has already started and clones are made. If Mew appeared beforehand, it would’ve stopped a lot of bad things from happening.

The worst letdown of this film is the scene where the other Pokemon happen to gain mystical healing powers simply from crying! If they can cry and heal so much, why haven’t they done this before? And why don’t they cry to heal themselves in every battle? It makes no sense.

Furthermore, the act of crying makes the terrorist called Mewtwo change hearts. He’s stolen things, killed people, blown things up and plotted to take over humanity, yet he changes his outlook in life by looking at some Pokemon cry! Heck, Mewtwo even kidnapped a nurse during the film.

Clearly, this Pokemon movie was unpredictable. Who knew it would suck?
